Job Opportunity: Care Provider for Private Individual
We are seeking a dedicated professional to provide holistic, evidence-based care to a private individual, focusing on a person-centred approach. The client currently has a diagnosis of dementia, age-related frailties, and other potential health co-morbidities that may arise.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, develop, and implement comprehensive care programmes; provide advice; and maintain associated records either manually or digitally.
- Carry out nursing procedures in accordance with clinical guidelines.
- Provide clinical supervision to other staff members.
- Direct, coordinate, and supervise the work of other staff to ensure best practice in relation to the care of the client with dementia.
- Cover for the team leader when absent to ensure effective care delivery. Report any issues to the line manager.
Qualifications / Essential Requirements
- Swiss or EU passport (or holder of a Swiss work permit).
- Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration or a European/Swiss equivalent.
- Nursing degree or equivalent.
- Completion or pursuit of Best Practice in Dementia Training.
- Willingness to undergo specific dementia training delivered in English.
- Additional qualifications related to dementia and associated topics, including stress management and meaningful activities.
- Understanding of the Newcastle Model and/or PINCHME model of behaviour assessment.
- Commitment to continuous professional development in dementia care.
- Specialist dementia qualification or additional studies in related fields.
- Understanding behaviour as a form of communication and knowledge of non-pharmacological interventions and strategies.
- Experience in End of Life Care and relevant clinical skills for addressing co-morbidities.
Qualifications / Additional Requirements
- Experience as a Moving and Handling Trainer.
- Background in Beauty/Massage Therapy.
- Experience in facilitating Meaningful Activity.
Language Requirements
- Effective communication skills in English; ideally as a first language or mother tongue.
- Proficiency in written English.
- Awareness of the impact of language barriers on the quality of life for individuals with dementia.
Experience
A minimum of 5 years’ experience working with individuals with dementia is required.
Personal Skills and Abilities
- Excellent team player with the ability to work independently.
- Effective listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong time management capabilities.
- Familiarity with basic technology.
- Teaching capabilities for junior staff, families, and other professionals.
- Female gender is preferred for this role.
Specific Job Requirements
- Commitment to a shift pattern based in Buckinghamshire, UK, and Switzerland for extended periods (preferably 10-14 days) and willingness to travel with the client in the UK.
- Ability to work unsociable hours, including a sleepover arrangement alternating nights with another staff member.
- May involve accompanying the client to various venues as part of the role.
- Professional conduct in line with the social standing of the client.
- A high standard of confidentiality must be maintained in accordance with NMC requirements and organizational policies. A confidentiality agreement will be provided separately.
- Understanding the local culture and circumstances affecting the client and family, especially as dementia progresses.
- Housekeeping responsibilities are a key aspect of this position.
