Master Scheduler Opportunity

W Talent is delighted to partner with a well-established engineering and manufacturing organization seeking an experienced Master Scheduler to enhance operations at their Derby facility. This pivotal role within the Planning function is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of production planning and scheduling processes, while actively driving efficiency, coordination, and performance across the business.

The Role

The Master Scheduler is charged with developing, maintaining, and executing the master production schedule to effectively balance customer demand, inventory targets, material availability, and capacity constraints. This role is essential for operational efficiency, future business success, and cross-functional collaboration across Supply Chain, Operations, Sales, and Finance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Continuously develop and maintain the master production schedule in alignment with customer expectations while ensuring a stable production level and minimizing week-to-week staffing fluctuations.
  • Calculate lead time to availability.
  • Identify the most efficient production route and optimize the production schedule.
  • Manage end-to-end production scheduling.
  • Assist with inbound materials planning.
  • Review schedule adherence daily, supporting stakeholders in corrective action planning to meet the production plan.
  • Create a production schedule upon order release and monitor daily attainment against the plan while considering constraints.
  • Develop forecasts based on future orders to assess capacity constraints and analyze staffing and material requirements for various scenarios.
  • Create a master schedule that facilitates detailed material and capacity planning, as well as financial planning.
  • Actively participate in Sales & Operations Planning, helping to set priorities when demand exceeds capacity.
  • Conduct monthly rough cut capacity planning and maintain updated capacity data for all critical site resources.
  • Maintain accurate planning data within the ERP system.
  • Conduct "What-if" analysis to evaluate the impact of demand changes, supply issues, or capacity constraints, identifying risks to plan adherence with proposals for mitigation.

Key Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other applications.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience using an MRP/ERP system.
  • Exposure to Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a plus.
  • Ability to interpret engineering and technical drawings.
  • Demonstrable experience in continuous improvement techniques within a supply chain or manufacturing context.

Salary & Benefits

A competitive salary ranging from £40,000 to £47,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package, is offered for this role based in Derby. This position presents a unique opportunity to shape the planning culture and standards within a growing and operationally diverse business.
