Job Role
W Talent Manufacturing and Engineering is in search of an experienced and highly skilled Health and Safety Manager to lead a small team and drive a successful behavioral change program. This on-site role is set in a heavy industrial high-hazard environment within Derbyshire. The ideal candidate will be a highly qualified Health and Safety Leader with a proven track record in supporting manufacturing organizations through technical and strategic safety improvements, while efficiently prioritizing workflows to achieve optimal results across the facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Health and Safety Strategy: Develop and implement a health and safety strategy that aligns with the company's goals and objectives, ensuring a proactive and prevention-based approach.
- Regulatory Compliance: Act as the point of contact for HSE Inspectors, facilitating site inspections and reviews. Stay up-to-date with relevant health and safety legislation, regulations, and standards, ensuring the facility's compliance.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct and review risk assessments, including hazard identification and process safety assessments, to mitigate potential health and safety risks.
- Training and Education: Create and deliver health and safety training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors, fostering a culture of safety awareness and competence.
- Incident Investigation: Lead investigations of workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses, implementing corrective and preventive actions to avoid future occurrences.
- Health and Safety Reporting: Prepare regular health and safety reports for senior management and regulatory authorities, providing insights and recommendations.
- Audits and Inspections: Conduct regular audits and inspections to assess compliance, identify areas for improvement, and track progress.
- Safety Culture: Foster a strong safety culture by promoting employee engagement, feedback, and participation in safety initiatives.
- Environmental Compliance: Maintain the ISO 14001 management system, collaborating with site teams to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and sustainability goals.
Qualifications and Person Specification
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent - minimum expectation.
- Proven experience as part of a Senior Leadership team.
- A background in Heavy Industry, Process Industry, or High Hazard Manufacturing is preferred.
- Lead Auditor experience would be advantageous.
- Significant experience in management, engaging with the entire workforce.
- Strong knowledge of relevant regulations and industry best practices; ISO 45001 is a must.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
