Experimental Animal Center
We are seeking to fill a 1-year position, starting on April 1st, 2026, or by appointment, with the possibility of prolongation.
Areas of Responsibility
- Manage the infrastructure and equipment of the animal facilities to ensure compliance with internal, national, and international guidelines.
- Maintain inventory, equipment, facility setup, and records relating to operations, ensuring the proper functioning of facility equipment, and coordinate equipment repair and maintenance with key providers.
- Ensure appropriate staff technical training, supervision, and evaluation while leading a team of 10 individuals.
- Verify that adequate supplies of expendables are available at all times to support barrier husbandry operations and facility maintenance.
- Assist with quality assurance methods to monitor hygiene in the animal facilities, water quality, and sterilization chambers.
- Develop and revise animal facility Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in conjunction with facility managers, ensuring adherence to SOPs, quality assurance guidelines, and protocols.
- Provide central support and be actively involved in the further development of the procurement system.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in biology or a related field, or a university degree in a technical profession related to the healthcare industry.
- At least 3 years of professional experience in animal husbandry facilities, veterinary medicine, or human medicine.
- Experience with procurement is an advantage.
- Initiative, communication skills, resilience, and a service-oriented leadership personality.
- Willingness to collaborate with various interest groups and drive innovation.
- Very good English and/or German language skills; proficiency in additional languages is an asset.
