Job Summary

This role will lead a large operations team consisting of over 30 professionals and manage a fleet of more than 400 vessels. Your primary objective is to ensure that operators worldwide consistently follow properly aligned processes and procedures.

About the Role

We are seeking a candidate with a strong interest and understanding of the Dry Bulk environment, who is a proven, result-oriented leader. In this position, you will primarily provide support and development to your team, communicate effectively, and demonstrate your ability to resolve problems efficiently.

You will actively contribute to and participate in the decision-making process for global freight operations. Your responsibilities will encompass a diverse range of tasks, including:

  • Tracking overall fleet performance in collaboration with technical managers.
  • Implementing enhancements and process changes based on reporting requirements.
  • Proactively addressing vessel-related issues while maintaining accountability.

We are looking for a visionary candidate who can set and manage strategic initiatives. One of these initiatives includes adopting a “helicopter view” on what is beneficial for Bunge and determining the direction the company should take. For instance, we expect you to play a pivotal role in sustainability efforts, providing solutions and driving Bunge toward its targets.

This position is based in our trading center in Geneva, Switzerland, and you will report directly to the Commercial VP of Freight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee P&I and marine insurance relationships; negotiate annual premiums in collaboration with Legal.
  • Manage all towage, agencies, and supplier contracts for services alongside the Technical Manager.
  • Support Operations in initiating and defending vessel-related litigation with Legal and P&I Club.
  • Stay updated on all current international regulations concerning international shipping.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in the Dry Bulk environment (operations and chartering).
  • Ability to structure, organize, and implement processes.
  • Proven experience in effectively managing a large international team.
  • Skills in cross-border personnel and/or customer/client conflict resolution.
  • Fluency in English; additional language(s) considered an asset.
