Engineering Supervisor (Night Shift)

W Talent is exclusively representing a growing manufacturing business seeking to recruit a permanent night shift Engineering Supervisor to join their Engineering team. This is a site-based role comprising 4 x 10-hour night shifts per week, operating from Sunday to Friday, with the flexibility to choose your preferred rota.

The Engineering Supervisor will work closely with the Head of Engineering and the wider Engineering team, supporting the day-to-day engineering functions and taking responsibility for maintenance systems, planned preventative maintenance, reliability, parts management, and engineering performance.

Job Description

The Engineering Supervisor will play a key role in coordinating the site's engineering and maintenance activities, ensuring that planned maintenance and reliability systems are effectively managed to maximize machinery uptime and support site targets. The position will combine engineering supervision, maintenance coordination, and hands-on technical support, with responsibilities that include:

• Managing PPM schedules, CMMS, and parts management
• Monitoring engineering KPIs and driving continuous improvement

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and support Shift Engineers and Shift Setters
• Coordinate planned preventative maintenance schedules, ensuring they are up-to-date
• Support the effective use and ongoing development of the site's CMMS
• Lead reliability maintenance schedules and continuous improvement initiatives
• Conduct root cause analysis following significant equipment failures or downtime events
• Monitor engineering KPIs, outstanding works, and PPM performance
• Support daily engineering handovers and communicate key issues and actions
• Manage engineering parts stock, ordering, deliveries, and regular stock takes
• Ensure maintenance and parts systems meet BRC and customer audit requirements
• Oversee contractor activity, ensuring compliance with site procedures
• Support engineering projects from design to completion
• Work closely with the Engineering team to maximize plant and machinery availability
• Ensure engineering activities comply with Health & Safety, Quality, and GMP requirements

Key Requirements

• Engineering supervisory or management experience within a manufacturing environment
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering systems
• Experience with a computerised maintenance management system (CMMS)
• Understanding of reliability maintenance and root cause analysis
• Experience managing engineering projects and maintenance budgets
• Strong knowledge of Health & Safety within an engineering environment
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
• Ability to lead and support an Engineering team
• Comfortable working a permanent night shift pattern

Advantageous Requirements

• Experience in FMCG or fast-paced manufacturing environments
• Familiarity with BRC or customer audit requirements
• Experience writing maintenance procedures related to GMP
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement
• Experience with mechanical, electrical, and logic control systems
