Electrical Technician (Male) / Electrical Technician (Female)

Darwin Recruitment October 11, 2026

Maintenance Technician in Electrical Engineering

NB: For this role, it is important that you speak good Dutch and live in the Randstad.

Do you enjoy working with technology that forms the backbone of the rail sector? Do you gain energy from solving malfunctions in machines and installations, ensuring that everything in the workshop continues to run smoothly? Are you looking for a position where you collaborate with a small, technically proficient team, while having significant responsibility and influence?

We are seeking a Maintenance Technician in Electrical Engineering for an international player in rail infrastructure. This organization supports large rail projects with materials, logistics, and technical services from their location in Hilversum, ensuring all machinery and installations operate at peak efficiency. Your role is crucial: without well-functioning machines, operations come to a standstill.

The position is less outdoor and malfunction-driven compared to field service roles, yet it remains technically challenging. You will focus on maintaining and enhancing a diverse fleet of machines, where electrical engineering, control, and mechanics intersect. Collaborating closely with a small team, you will enjoy significant autonomy in addressing challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on machines, installations, and tools.
  • Analyze and resolve electrical malfunctions, including PLC controls and drives.
  • Assess malfunctions and determine when external assistance is required.
  • Develop temporary solutions to ensure safe production continuity.
  • Guide and support operators in technical maintenance.
  • Supervise external technicians and maintenance teams.
  • Contribute ideas for improvements and optimization of machinery.

Qualifications

  • At least an MBO degree in electrical engineering or comparable experience.
  • Experience in reading technical drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Knowledge of PLCs, control technology, and regulated drives.
  • Affinity for machines such as milling, turning, and sawing machines, conveyor belts, and cranes.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanics (or willingness to learn).
  • Able to work independently and make technically sound decisions.
  • Prioritize safety and quality at all times.
  • Enjoy working in a small, close-knit team.

What We Offer

  • A salary between €3,100 and €4,175 gross per month.
  • 25 vacation days and 10 ADV days.
  • Prospects for a permanent contract.
  • Working in a small technical team with direct communication (2 direct colleagues).
  • Opportunities to initiate and implement improvements.
  • Further development opportunities in electrical engineering and control technology.
  • A stable international organization with a practical and down-to-earth work atmosphere.

This position stands out due to the unique integration of electrical engineering, control, and mechanics in a single role. You will not be limited to one type of installation but will engage with a variety of machines, ensuring that no two days are the same. You will have a meaningful impact on how malfunctions are resolved and how processes are enhanced.

We encourage you to apply online using the form below, even if you do not meet every requirement but possess the technical foundation and motivation to grow further. Only applications matching the job profile will be considered. Interested?
