THE POSITION
Reporting to the Team Manager of DSP Commercial & Characterization Readiness (C&CR), the Biotechnician DSP will be responsible for executing laboratory-scale experiments to characterize purification processes. This role will focus on purification activities, including buffer preparation, device setup, chromatography/TFF/filtration, and in-process analytics.
As a member of the C&CR team, you will provide flexible support as needed for USP C&CR and other activities within the scope of the role.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Execute and document small-scale runs within the scope and timelines of work packages for clients or internal initiatives.
- Document executed work in protocols and batch records in accordance with good laboratory practices and Celonic guidelines.
- Report experimental results with a critical mindset.
- Participate in troubleshooting on both equipment and processes, collaborating with project scientists.
- Support USP C&CR and early-stage activities as needed.
- Assist in the general maintenance of DSP equipment and laboratory facilities.
- Report Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) gaps and/or incidents and initiate EHS improvements.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- A university degree in a scientific or engineering discipline or equivalent vocational training in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of relevant hands-on industry experience.
- Fundamental concepts in mammalian purification work.
- Knowledge and initial experience with DSP laboratory-scale devices (e.g., harvest & viral filtration operations, chromatography devices, UF/DF devices) and automation systems.
- A flexible, adaptive, and collaborative team player.
- Curious and eager to expand knowledge in the DSP field.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate self-discipline to meet given timelines.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Availability for weekend/shift work and on-call duty.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Fluency in English (spoken and written); knowledge of German is a plus.
