Deputy Secretary General - Sports & Education

Your Mission

At World Gymnastics, sport and education are at the core of the Federation’s mission. Based at the headquarters in Lausanne, the Deputy Secretary General – Sports & Education provides unified leadership across all sport disciplines and education activities. This role ensures coherence between competitions, development pathways, and learning programmes, while supporting the Secretary General in maintaining institutional stability and leadership continuity. Positioned at the intersection of technical expertise, governance, and international coordination, this role is central to shaping how gymnastics is delivered, developed, and taught worldwide.

Your Responsibilities

  • Provide coordinated leadership to Sports Events Managers, fostering alignment, shared priorities, and consistency across disciplines while respecting technical expertise and promoting collaborative decision-making.
  • Direct the Education Department, defining strategic orientations and overseeing education programmes, digital learning initiatives, and international training activities.
  • Ensure alignment between sport delivery, technical development, and education pathways.
  • Coordinate the harmonisation of technical regulations and all sports-related rules, manuals, and education materials, ensuring coherence and quality.
  • Facilitate structured interaction with Technical Committees, supporting planning cycles and documentation flows without intervening in discipline-specific decisions.
  • Oversee the preparation, execution, and follow-up of sports events and education programmes.
  • Represent World Gymnastics in technical and operational meetings when delegated.
  • Support continuity of leadership by exercising delegated authority in the absence of the Secretary General.

About You

  • University degree in Sport Science, Education, Sports Management, or a related field.
  • Extensive and proven background in gymnastics, with in-depth understanding of its disciplines, competitions, technical frameworks, and governance environment.
  • Significant experience in international sport settings, including leadership of technical or event-related teams.
  • Strong understanding of competition formats, technical regulations, and broader sports-related rules, as well as education systems.
  • Experience working with Technical Committees and international sport governance bodies.
  • Strong collaborative leadership skills, with the ability to align and coordinate experienced professionals.
  • Excellent intercultural communication skills.
  • Fluency in English and French; other languages are an asset.
  • Availability for international travel.
  • Valid Swiss working permit.
