Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated professional to provide holistic, evidence-based care to an individual with a diagnosis of dementia, age-related frailties, and other health co-morbidities. This role focuses on addressing the client's needs in a positive, person-centred manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, develop, and implement care programs; provide advice; and maintain associated records both manually and digitally.
- Carry out nursing procedures in adherence to clinical guidelines.
- Provide clinical supervision to other staff members.
- Direct, coordinate, and supervise the work of other staff to ensure best practices in dementia care.
- In the absence of the team leader, provide cover to ensure effective care delivery.
- Raise any issues with the line manager promptly.
Qualifications / Essential Requirements
- Swiss or EU passport (or holder of a Swiss working permit).
- Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration or European/Swiss equivalent.
- Nursing degree or equivalent qualification.
- Completion or progress towards Best Practice in Dementia Training.
- Willingness to undergo specific dementia training (Best Practice in Dementia Care) delivered in English.
- Additional qualifications related to dementia and related topics, including stress and distress training and meaningful activity training.
- Understanding of the Newcastle Model and/or PINCHME model of behaviour assessment.
- Commitment to continuous professional development in dementia care.
- Specialist dementia qualification or further studies in related areas.
- Knowledge of behaviour as communication and expertise in non-pharmacological interventions.
- Experience in End of Life Care with relevant clinical skills to address developing co-morbidities.
Qualifications / Additional Requirements
- Training in Moving and Handling.
- Skills in Beauty/Massage Therapy.
- Experience in facilitating Meaningful Activities.
Language / Essential
- Proficient communication skills in English; ideally a native speaker.
- Excellent written communication abilities in English.
- Understanding that effective communication is crucial for enhancing the quality of life for the client, especially given the challenges posed by dementia.
Experience
A minimum of 5 years’ experience working with individuals diagnosed with dementia is required.

- Effective listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Able to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Basic technological proficiency.
- Teaching experience for junior staff, family members, and other professionals.
- Female gender (as per client preference).
Specific Job Requirements
- Commitment to working a shift pattern based in Buckinghamshire, UK, and Switzerland for extended periods (preferably 10-14 days).
- Availability for unsociable hours, including a sleepover arrangement with another staff member during shifts.
- Responsibility for accompanying the client to various venues as necessary.
- Maintain a professional demeanor that is fitting to the client's social standing.
- Strict adherence to confidentiality requirements as outlined by NMC standards and organizational policies.
- Understanding the cultural context important to the client and their family, especially as dementia progresses.
- Housekeeping responsibilities as a key component of patient care.
