Your Role as an Amazon Field Engineer

As an Amazon Field Engineer, you will provide comprehensive support to AWS Data Centers, overseeing projects from design inception to site maintenance and improvement. This role is vital to realizing Amazon's vision of being the most customer-centric company. You will lead projects that adapt our data centers to meet the ever-evolving demands of our customers while scaling our operations.

• Experience in problem-solving through engineered solutions.
• Proven track record in managing engineering projects and consultants.
• Ability to build trust and relationships with various stakeholders (Operations, Controls, Construction, etc.).
• Adaptable and willing to engage in fieldwork for better insights.
• Enthusiastic about a mix of office and field activities.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be the primary engineering resource in your region, providing technical advice and collaborating with diverse teams:

• Perform design and equipment submittal reviews for new Data Centers in your region.
• Troubleshoot issues, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and prepare Corrective Action (CA) documentation for site/equipment failures.
• Support operational challenges with ad-hoc training and complex procedures.
• Oversee conceptual design for data center upgrades that enhance capacity, availability, and sustainability.
• Collaborate with internal teams to uphold standards of service reliability.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects across various geographical regions.
• Initiate and conduct engineering audits, producing reports that identify risks and recommend mitigations.
• Act as the resident engineer during new construction projects, assisting with construction and commissioning.

A Day in the Life

You will engage with multiple teams responsible for all data center operations. Your focus will be on supporting capacity availability and safety, prioritizing the most impactful actions. Basic Qualifications

• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Willingness to travel between Data Center sites and internationally if required.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with mission-critical facilities engineering, particularly in data centers and power generation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Data analytics skills and experience handling large datasets.
• Direct experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission-critical facilities.
• Knowledge of building codes and regulations in your region.
• Familiarity with mechanical and electrical design concepts related to data centers.
• Experience with EPMS/SCADA/BMS Controls systems (software and/or hardware).
