ETH Zürich - August 8, 2025

Join the ETH AI Center as a Web Applications & Automation Specialist

As ETH's central hub for artificial intelligence, the ETH AI Center brings together researchers focused on AI foundations, applications, and implications across all departments. We foster research excellence, industry innovation, and AI entrepreneurship to promote trustworthy, accessible, and inclusive AI systems that benefit society. Founded in autumn 2020, the ETH AI Center caters to a rapidly growing community of leading AI researchers, industry partners, and startups.

The ETH AI Center is at the heart of Switzerland’s rapidly growing AI ecosystem. Our flagship event, the AI+X Summit, has quickly become one of the country’s largest and most dynamic gatherings for AI research, industry, and policy. In 2025, we co-launched the Zurich AI Festival in collaboration with the Greater Zurich Area, adding a new public-facing dimension to our outreach. We are also co-initiators and core stakeholders of AI House Davos, a high-level platform for global dialogue on trustworthy AI at the World Economic Forum.

About the Role

To support and scale these activities, we are looking for a Web Applications & Automation Specialist to manage the digital infrastructure behind our events — from smooth registration flows to sleek and functional event websites. Your work will help shape the user experience for thousands of participants and partners, ensuring our events run with both precision and impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take the lead in building and maintaining the ETH AI Center’s digital infrastructure for events.
  • Set up and manage event webpages and applications.
  • Manage registration systems and develop automation workflows to streamline operations.
  • Collaborate closely with the Event Manager and Communications team to ensure that our public-facing content is clean, functional, and on-brand.

Who We’re Looking For

We are searching for a tech-savvy problem solver with a keen aesthetic sense for design, usability, and user experience — someone who enjoys creating elegant, scalable solutions to enhance remarkable events and digital outreach.

Requirements

  • A university degree, ideally with exposure to AI topics or international affairs.
  • Professional fluency in English; proficiency in German is a plus.
  • Strong experience in building web applications, form builders, and automation tools (e.g., AEM, Make.com, Google Developer Console, Typeform, Inxmail, Mailchimp, Zapier, Wix Velo).
  • Proficiency in JavaScript and a working knowledge of APIs, including webhook-based data transfer and third-party service integrations.
  • Experience in structuring and querying databases, maintaining clean data schemas, and troubleshooting sync errors.
  • Confidence in working with analytics dashboards, tracking tools, and reporting key metrics (Google Analytics, basic SEO, UTM tagging).
  • Familiarity with custom code integrations or able to collaborate with developers to deliver smooth and secure workflows.
  • Hands-on experience managing event websites and online registration pipelines, ideally in high-profile or multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Solid understanding of user experience, digital design, and accessibility standards.
  • Ability to closely collaborate with marketing, events, and communications teams, aligning digital infrastructure with strategic goals.
  • Bonus: Familiarity with data privacy practices (GDPR compliance), experience with CRM integrations, or managing waitlists, ticketing, and participant communication.

Personal Attributes

  • Curious and enthusiastic about technology, science, and their societal impact.
  • Self-organized, reliable, and proactive — a problem solver at heart.
  • Flexible and collaborative, with a hands-on mindset and a strong team spirit.
  • Comfortable working at the intersection of academia, entrepreneurship, and industry.
  • Clear in communication and confident in a fast-paced, international environment.

What We Offer

  • A dynamic environment with a rapidly growing and adapting team.
  • Opportunities to engage with leading researchers in the field of AI.
  • Networking with industry partners in the artificial intelligence sector, both in Switzerland and across Europe.
  • The position is limited to a duration of 1 year, with the possibility (and intent) for extension beyond that.
