Current Opportunity: In Vivo Laborant (m/w/d)

This position is based within In Vivo Sciences, a chapter of Pharmaceutical Sciences (PS). Our primary focus includes the housing and care of laboratory animals, as well as the state-of-the-art execution of animal experiments in pharmacology, pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics (PK/PD), and toxicology. In Vivo Sciences plays a crucial role as the operational hub for all in vivo studies.

The Ideal Candidate

The perfect candidate possesses:

  • Vocational training in a biological or chemical laboratory field or substantial hands-on experience working with laboratory animals.
  • A minimum of two years of professional experience as a lab technician, veterinary nurse, animal technician, or in a comparable role.
  • Completion of a laboratory animal science course (preferred).
  • Fluency in both English and German.

Work Hours

Standard working hours are 40 hours per week, with potential weekend shifts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting in vivo studies for rodents and rabbits in the areas of toxicology and pharmacokinetics.
  • Responsibilities include clinical scoring, blood sampling, and administering doses via various routes (IP, IV, PO, subcutaneous).
  • Basic necropsy skills.
  • Collecting, documenting, reviewing, and verifying data in forms or electronic data capture systems.
  • Participating as a team member in study activities during weekends on a rotational basis.
  • Optional: Conducting or assisting in surgical procedures, including anesthesia, and providing pre- and postoperative care following best veterinary and animal welfare standards.

Qualifications

  • Training as an in vivo associate, biology laboratory assistant, or relevant experience in laboratory work with laboratory animals is required.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in the field of animal laboratory work (such as working with rats and mice).
  • An accredited animal course (LTK or FELASA) is mandatory.
  • Languages: Fluent in English.
