Position: In Vivo Laborant (m/w/d)

This position is located in In Vivo Sciences, a division within Pharmaceutical Sciences (PS). The core responsibilities involve the housing and care of laboratory animals, alongside the state-of-the-art conduct of animal experiments in Pharmacology, PK/PD, and Toxicology. In Vivo Sciences is responsible for the Animal Facility in pRED and serves as a crucial business enabler for all in vivo studies.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Completed vocational training in a biological or chemical laboratory field or substantial hands-on experience working with laboratory animals.
  • At least two years of professional experience as a lab technician, veterinary nurse, animal technician, or in a comparable role.
  • Completion of a laboratory animal science course is highly desirable.
  • Fluency in both English and German is required.

Work Hours

Standard 40 hours per week, with occasional weekend work.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting in vivo studies on rodents and rabbits, particularly in toxicology and pharmacokinetics, which includes:
    • Clinical scoring and blood sampling.
    • Administering doses via various routes (IP, IV, PO, Subcutaneous).
    • Basic necropsy skills.
    • Collecting, documenting, reviewing, and verifying data in electronic data capture systems.
    • Participating in study activities during weekends on a rotational basis.
    • Optional involvement in surgical procedures, including anesthesia, and providing pre- and postoperative care according to best veterinary and animal welfare standards.

Qualifications

  • Training as an in vivo associate, biology laboratory assistant, or relevant experience in laboratory work with laboratory animals.
  • A minimum of 2 years of work experience in the field of animal laboratory work (rats and mice).
  • An accredited animal course (LTK or FELASA) is mandatory.
  • Languages: Fluent in English.
