For our client, we are currently seeking an:

In Vivo Laborant (m/w/d)

This position is located within In Vivo Sciences, a chapter of Pharmaceutical Sciences (PS). Here, the Housing and Care of Laboratory Animals and the advanced conduct of animal experiments in Pharmacology, PK/PD, and Toxicology are primary focuses. In Vivo Sciences is responsible for the Animal Facility in pRED and serves as a key business enabler for all in vivo studies.

About the Ideal Candidate

The perfect candidate (m/w/d) will possess:

  • Vocational training in a biological or chemical laboratory field or substantial hands-on experience working with laboratory animals.
  • At least two years of professional experience as a lab technician, veterinary nurse, animal technician, or in a comparable role.
  • Completion of a laboratory animal science course.
  • Fluency in both English and German.

Work Hours

Standard 40 hours per week (occasional weekend work may be required).

Tasks and Responsibilities

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting in vivo studies for rodents and rabbits in the areas of toxicology and pharmacokinetics.
  • Performing clinical scoring and blood collection.
  • Administering doses via various routes (IP, IV, PO, Subcutaneous).
  • Basic necropsy skills.
  • Collecting, documenting, reviewing, and verifying data on forms or in electronic data capture systems.
  • Participating as a team member in study activities on a weekend basis (rotational).
  • Optional: Conducting or assisting in surgical procedures including anesthesia, and providing pre- and postoperative care according to best veterinary and animal welfare standards.

Qualifications

  • Training as an in vivo associate, biology laboratory assistant, or relevant experience in laboratory work with laboratory animals is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of work experience in the field of animal laboratory work (especially with rats and mice).
  • An accredited animal course (LTK or FELASA) is mandatory.
  • Languages: Fluent in English.
