In Vivo Laborant (m/w/d) – Rodents / LTK1 / Toxicology / Taking Blood / English

Project: Our client, a prominent pharmaceutical company located in Basel, is seeking a highly qualified In Vivo Laborant (m/w/d).

Background:

This position is situated within In Vivo Sciences, a Chapter of Pharmaceutical Sciences (PS), which focuses on the housing and care of laboratory animals as well as the state-of-the-art execution of animal experiments in Pharmacology, PK/PD, and Toxicology. In Vivo Sciences oversees the Animal Facility in pRED, making it a crucial enabler for all in vivo studies.

The Ideal Candidate:

The perfect candidate has completed vocational training in a biological or chemical laboratory field, or possesses significant hands-on experience working with laboratory animals, along with a minimum of two years of professional experience as a lab technician, veterinary nurse, animal technician, or in a similar role. Ideally, candidates will have completed a laboratory animal science course and be fluent in both English and German.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

• Conduct in vivo studies involving rodents and rabbits in the fields of toxicology and pharmacokinetics, which includes:
  • Clinical scoring
  • Taking blood samples
  • Dosing by various routes (IP, IV, PO, Subcutaneous)
  • Basic necropsy skills
• Collect, document, review, and verify data in forms or electronic data capture systems
• Participate as a team member in study activities during weekends on a rotational basis
• Optionally conduct or assist in surgical procedures, including anesthesia and provide pre- and postoperative care adhering to best veterinary and animal welfare standards

Must-Haves:

• Completion of training as an in vivo associate, biology laboratory assistant, or relevant experience in laboratory work with laboratory animals
• A minimum of 2 years of work experience in the field of animal laboratory work (specifically with rats and mice)
• An accredited animal course (LTK or FELASA) is mandatory
• Fluency in English
