The global Translational Medicine (TM) group at Biomedical Research builds upon basic research advancements to develop therapies that address unmet medical needs. We serve as a vital link between drug discovery and clinical application, enhancing the speed, quality, and productivity of drug development at Novartis, while playing a crucial role in delivering innovative medicines to patients.

The Clinical Sciences & Innovation (CS&I) team meticulously plans, designs, and manages the TM clinical portfolio, in partnership with Global Clinical Operations to implement TM clinical projects worldwide. Our associates are dedicated to ensuring a seamless transition from discovery research to clinical practice, driven by a commitment to clinical and data sciences, clinical innovation, patient centricity, and strategic planning.

Your Journey Begins

Your journey commences with an immersive four-week basecamp designed to introduce you to our organization, the drug development process, various departments in Translational Medicine, the clinical trial process, and the tools and technical platforms essential for your work.

Throughout the program, fellows will reunite for ongoing learning focused on soft skills, cross-functional exposure, and thematic introductions, broadening your perspective beyond your immediate team and function.

As a TM Academy Fellow in CS&I, you will:

  • Build a strong foundation in translational medicine with guidance from industry experts.
  • Embark on a progressive, blended, and flexible learning experience covering conceptual, theoretical, and experiential techniques.
  • Become part of a global network of supportive peers and mentors who will guide you in collaborating on meaningful projects that shape the future of medicine.
  • Gain hands-on experience by contributing to a range of clinical trial operations activities such as:
    • Enhancing the quality of clinical, regulatory, and trial documents to ensure their completeness and accuracy.
    • Supporting the creation and improvement of critical clinical documents in collaboration with experienced colleagues.
    • Facilitating team communications through crafting trial newsletters and organizing engaging meetings.
    • Learning the intricacies of clinical trial documentation by assisting with the setup and management of the Trial Master File.
    • Enhancing communication and collaboration among global teams, investigator sites, and vendors by gathering information and ensuring smooth activity flow.
    • Gaining practical experience with key clinical trial systems, ensuring data accuracy.
    • Supporting day-to-day trial operations including coordinating meetings and managing documentation.
  • Broaden your professional horizons by exploring specific interests within one of the CS&I groups aligned with your interests, such as trial management, feasibility, or data visualization.
  • Help onboard new fellows by sharing your experiences and insights from the program.

Role Requirements

Candidates should possess:

  • A demonstrated interest in clinical research and drug development, eager to engage in a scientific environment focused on trial operations, documentation, and coordination.
  • A university degree (BA; BSc, MA, MSc, PharmD, or PhD) or relevant professional experience.
  • Fluency in business-level English, both oral and written.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team while managing multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Office IT skills.
