Your Key Responsibilities

The primary focus of this traineeship is to learn the fundamentals of being a mechanic within a Formula 1 race team, specifically in the sub-assembly field.

As a trainee, you will actively contribute to the meticulous assembly, teardown, and ongoing maintenance of advanced F1 chassis components on a daily basis.

High-precision measurements and regular service life interval checks must be performed using specialized metrology instruments.

Over time, you will assume progressive responsibility for the build and maintenance of complex rear axle assemblies.

A significant milestone following the training period will include providing critical trackside support during racing events.

Your role will also encompass the management of several mechanical car assemblies, from initial preparation to regular services within the department's duties.

Ensuring the seamless delivery of prepared assemblies to the final Car Build group is essential for effective track operations.

Close collaboration with internal stakeholders, including the Race Team and the Design Office, is fundamental to success in this position.

After the integration phase, you will be expected to execute assigned technical tasks independently with minimal supervision.

Your Competency Profile

  • Completion of basic mechanical training as an automotive mechanic, mechatronics technician, or agricultural machinery mechanic is mandatory.
  • Outstanding manual dexterity complemented by a careful and forward-thinking working style is essential for this position.
  • Proven experience in the application of precise measuring instruments is necessary to verify engineering tolerances.
  • A solid technical and mechanical understanding of high-performance automotive systems is required.
  • Basic knowledge of operational software such as Microsoft Excel, Word, and SAP is considered a beneficial asset.
  • High levels of motivation, proactivity, and resilience are needed to thrive in the high-pressure environment of Formula 1.
  • An open-minded, solution-oriented, and results-driven mindset is expected from all members of the sub-assembly group.
  • Willingness to work outside of normal operational hours is required due to the nature of the racing calendar.
  • Proficiency in both English and German is essential for effective communication within the international race team.
