Job Opportunity: Trading Strategist at BB Biotech
With a recent change in the leadership of the investment team, BB Biotech is re-evaluating its strategy, positions, and integration of the investment team within the Bellevue Group. As part of this initiative, Bellevue is seeking to attract a Trading Strategist for BB Biotech at Bellevue Asset Management. We are looking for an experienced individual with a strong background in execution trading, who also excels in building relationships with market participants and can effectively gauge market dynamics to support the investment management team with valuable insights.
The ideal candidate will be energetic, detail-oriented, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. This position reports directly to Christian Koch, Head of BB Biotech at Bellevue Asset Management, and is based in Zurich, Switzerland.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Execution Trading
- Focus on execution-related activities for the Head of BB Biotech, primarily concerning listed equity instruments, FX, and other related transactions.
- Develop clear trading plans to facilitate portfolio implementation and manage the execution of these plans.
- Ensure best execution and implement effective strategies for the firm.
- Advise the Head of BB Biotech on efficient execution strategies, providing insights into market conditions, expected costs, and relevant calendar events.
- Monitor allocations to actual positions to manage individual position sizes and communicate with the Head of BB Biotech as necessary.
- Identify areas for improvement such as new execution venues and leveraging technology solutions while driving automation and streamlining of execution workflow processes.
Market Monitoring & Insight
- Maintain relationships and open communication with brokers to gather trade flow information and identify liquidity opportunities.
- Develop strong relationships to provide market insights to the investment management team, particularly concerning portfolio names and upcoming events or milestones.
- Build connections with ECM and banking divisions regarding deal flow.
- Monitor trading and prime brokerage activities for invested and short-listed names, reporting findings to the investment management team.
Administrative & Other Trading Functions
- Coordinate with Bellevue Asset Management Finance & Operations on cash management, NAV calculation, trade execution, and settlement.
- Oversee share buy-backs and market-making activities, liaising with authorized trading counterparts while ensuring compliance with legal limits.
- Prepare necessary reports related to trading activities for BB Biotech and Bellevue Asset Management.
