Position: Trading Strategist at BB Biotech
With a change in the investment team leadership, BB Biotech is re-examining its strategy, positions, and the integration of the investment team within the Bellevue Group. As part of this approach, Bellevue is seeking a talented Trading Strategist for BB Biotech at Bellevue Asset Management. We are looking for an experienced professional with expertise in execution trading, who fosters strong relationships with market participants and possesses the ability to gauge market dynamics in order to provide the investment management team with valuable insights.
The ideal candidate will be energetic, detail-oriented, possess excellent communication skills, and excel in interpersonal relations. This position reports to Christian Koch, Head of BB Biotech at Bellevue Asset Management, and is based in Zurich, Switzerland.
Key Responsibilities
- Portfolio Execution Trading:
- Focus primarily on execution-related activities for the Head of BB Biotech, particularly concerning listed equity instruments, foreign exchange, and other related transactions.
- Develop clear trading plans to facilitate portfolio implementation and manage the execution process.
- Take necessary steps to ensure the best execution and effective implementation strategies for the firm.
- Advise the Head of BB Biotech on efficient execution strategies, providing insights on market conditions, liquidity, expected impact costs, and relevant events.
- Monitor allocations to actual positions, managing individual position sizes and communicating proactively with the Head of BB Biotech when required.
- Identify areas for improvement, such as new execution venues and technology solutions, while driving automation and the streamlining of execution workflows.
- Market Monitoring & Insight:
- Maintain relationships and communicate openly with brokers to obtain trade flow information and identify liquidity sources.
- Build relationships that will enhance the investment management team’s understanding of market insights, especially regarding portfolio positioning and upcoming milestones.
- Develop connections with ECM and banking divisions to facilitate the flow of deals.
- Monitor trading and prime brokerage activity on invested and shortlist names, reporting findings to the investment management team.
- Administrative & Other Trading Functions:
- Coordinate with Bellevue Asset Management’s Finance & Operations team regarding cash management, NAV calculations, trade execution, and settlement.
- Oversee share buy-backs and market-making activities in coordination with authorized trading counterparts while monitoring legal limits.
- Prepare necessary reports linked to trading activities for BB Biotech and Bellevue Asset Management.
