Job Opportunity: Trading Strategist at BB Biotech
With a recent shift in leadership within the investment team, BB Biotech is re-evaluating its strategy and positions, as well as its integration within the Bellevue Group. As part of this strategic approach, Bellevue is seeking to attract a qualified Trading Strategist for BB Biotech at Bellevue Asset Management.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced professional with a strong background in execution trading and established relationships with market participants. The individual should have a keen ability to gauge market dynamics and provide valuable insights to the investment management team. We are looking for someone who is energetic, detail-oriented, a skilled communicator, and possesses excellent interpersonal skills.
This position reports directly to Christian Koch, Head of BB Biotech at Bellevue Asset Management, and is based in Zurich, Switzerland.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Execution Trading
- Focus on execution-related activities for the Head of BB Biotech, primarily concerning listed equity instruments, FX, and other related transactions.
- Develop and implement clear trading plans to facilitate portfolio execution.
- Ensure best execution and effective implementation strategies for the firm.
- Advise the Head of BB Biotech on execution strategies and market conditions, including liquidity, expected impact costs, and relevant calendar events.
- Monitor allocations to actual positions and communicate with the Head of BB Biotech regarding any required actions.
- Identify and pursue areas for improvement, such as new execution venues, outsourcing opportunities, and leveraging technology solutions. Drive the automation and streamlining of execution workflow processes.
Market Monitoring & Insight
- Maintain relationships and open communication with brokers to gather trade flow information and identify liquidity.
- Build relationships to provide the investment management team with insights on portfolio positioning and upcoming events/milestones.
- Develop connections with ECM and banking divisions to stay informed about the flow of deals.
- Monitor trading and prime brokerage activities on invested and short-listed names and share findings with the investment management team.
Administrative & Other Trading Functions
- Coordinate with Bellevue Asset Management Finance & Operations on cash management, NAV calculation, trade execution, and settlement processes.
- Manage share buy-backs and market-making initiatives by working with authorized trading counterparts while adhering to legal limits.
- Prepare necessary reporting pertaining to trading activities for BB Biotech and Bellevue Asset Management.
