Job Opportunity: Trading Strategist at BB Biotech
With a change in the investment team leadership, BB Biotech is re-examining its strategy, positions, and investment team integration within the Bellevue Group. As part of this approach, Bellevue is seeking to attract a Trading Strategist for BB Biotech at Bellevue Asset Management. We are looking for an experienced individual who is well-versed in execution trading, possesses strong relationships with market participants, and has the ability to gauge market dynamics to provide valuable insights to the investment management team. The ideal candidate will be energetic, detail-oriented, adept at communication, and possess excellent interpersonal skills.
This position reports to Christian Koch, Head of BB Biotech at Bellevue Asset Management, and is based in Zurich, Switzerland.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Execution Trading
- Focus primarily on execution-related activities for the Head of BB Biotech, primarily concerning listed equity instruments, FX, and other related transactions.
- Develop clear trading plans to facilitate portfolio implementation and oversee the execution of those plans.
- Ensure best execution and effective implementation strategies for the firm.
- Advise the Head of BB Biotech on the efficient and effective implementation of execution strategies, providing insights on market conditions (liquidity, expected impact costs), calendar events, and any other relevant factors.
- Monitor allocation against actual positions to manage individual position sizes and communicate with the Head of BB Biotech when actions are required.
- Identify areas for improvement such as new execution venues, outsourcing opportunities, and leveraging technology solutions. Drive automation, streamline, and harmonize execution workflow processes.
Market Monitoring & Insight
- Maintain relationships and facilitate open communication with brokers to gather trade flow information and identify liquidity.
- Build relationships to deliver market insights to the investment management team, especially on positions related to portfolio names and upcoming events/milestones.
- Establish connections with ECM and banking divisions regarding the flow of deals.
- Monitor trading and prime brokerage activities on invested and short-listed names, providing reports to the investment management team.
Administrative & Other Trading Functions
- Coordinate with Bellevue Asset Management Finance & Operations on cash management, NAV calculations, trade execution, and settlement processes.
- Oversee share buy-backs and market-making by collaborating with authorized trading counterparts while adhering to legal limits.
- Prepare required reports linked to trading activities for BB Biotech and Bellevue Asset Management.
