Your Role and Responsibilities

We are seeking an exceptional scientist to join our team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of next-generation products. You will create models for complex physical phenomena in electrical systems and develop advanced simulation tools. You will serve as the bridge between theory and application, bringing in your deep expertise in physics.

The work model for this role is hybrid.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Develop innovative approaches, models, and algorithms for the design and optimization of current and future ABB products, particularly in physical modeling and simulation.
  • Conduct theoretical and applied research in the areas of switching and dielectrics.
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team comprising scientists and engineers, along with ABB divisions and other industry and academic partners.
  • Propose, initiate, and lead research projects.
  • Publish scientific articles and participate in conferences.

Qualifications for the Role

  • Ph.D. in theoretical or computational physics, applied mathematics, or a closely related field, with a strong scientific track record. Please include a list of publications in your application. Postdoctoral experience is valued but not required.
  • Broad knowledge in physics and applied mathematics.
  • Familiarity with plasma physics, electro-dynamics, fluid mechanics, statistics, or programming is advantageous.
  • Strong ability to learn quickly in new scientific domains and integrate innovative techniques into workflows.
  • Curiosity, enthusiasm, and motivation to bridge the gap between research and application.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present scientific work to diverse audiences.
  • Team-oriented mindset: We value lively interaction and collaboration within interdisciplinary teams.
