Position Overview

This position reports to the: R&D Team Lead

Your Role and Responsibilities

We are seeking an outstanding scientist to join our dynamic group. In this role, you will have the chance to contribute to the development of next-generation products by:

  • Developing new approaches, models, and algorithms for the design and optimization of current and future ABB products, focusing on physical modeling and simulation.
  • Conducting theoretical and applied research in switching and dielectrics.
  • Collaborating in a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers, alongside ABB divisions and industry and academic partners.
  • Proposing, initiating, and leading research projects.
  • Publishing scientific articles and participating in conferences.

Qualifications for the Role

  • Ph.D. in theoretical or computational physics, applied mathematics, or a closely related field, with a strong scientific track record. Postdoctoral experience is valued but not required.
  • Broad knowledge in physics and applied mathematics.
  • Familiarity with models and methods from plasma physics, electro-dynamics, fluid mechanics, statistics, or programming is advantageous.
  • Ability to quickly learn in new scientific domains and integrate innovative techniques into your workflow.
  • Curiosity, enthusiasm, and motivation to bridge the gap between research and application.
  • Strong communication skills to present scientific work to any audience.
  • A team-oriented mindset: We value lively interaction and collaboration within interdisciplinary teams.
