This opportunity is perfect for someone passionate about science, technology, and lab automation, possessing strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support high-throughput screening (HTS) and high-content screening (HCS) projects, assisting researchers with assay development, execution, and data interpretation.
  • Prepare and maintain cell cultures (e.g., cell expansion for screening experiments) in a BSL-2 environment.
  • Support project workflows and assay development through preparation of buffers, solutions, and consumables.
  • Operate and maintain automated liquid handling platforms and plate readers; prior experience is a plus, but not required, as training will be provided.
  • Carry out instrument calibration and routine maintenance of lab automation equipment.
  • Collaborate in an interdisciplinary research environment, assisting scientists in optimizing screening workflows.

Required Qualifications

  • A technical diploma or MSc in biology, bioengineering, or a related field.
  • Strong background in standard cell culture work (preferably in a BSL-2 laboratory).
  • Affinity for laboratory automation and screening technologies (experience is a plus, but not required).
  • High level of accuracy, reliability, and independence in executing lab tasks.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in English and German.

Core Skills

  • Excellent organizational skills, including project coordination, document management, and time management.
  • Service-oriented mindset with exceptional communication skills.
  • Hands-on mentality in problem-solving.
  • Strong technical affinity and ability to quickly learn new technologies.
  • A precise and accurate working style.

This is a temporary position until June 2026 and includes hands-on training in laboratory automation. At NEXUS, we value knowledge exchange and teamwork, operating as an agile, high-performing unit where everyone contributes their expertise and personality. We maintain flat hierarchies and offer flexible working hours, along with family-friendly models. Our team benefits from numerous training opportunities and works in an exciting field at the forefront of translational research.
