Technical Expert in Drug Carrier Fabrication / Technical Expertess in Drug Carrier Fabrication

ETH Zürich - April 4, 2026

Join Our Team as a Technical Expert in Focused Ultrasound Technology

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Expert to join our focused ultrasound technology team. This exciting role involves delivering drugs non-invasively to the brain using customized drug carriers.

Role Overview

This position will support our recently developed Aggregation-Uncaging Focused Ultrasound (AU-FUS) technology, which aims to target specific brain structures with precision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the fabrication and characterization of ultrasound-sensitive drug carriers.
  • Optimize the manufacturing processes for enhanced efficiency.
  • Establish the delivery of biologics, such as RNA, to the brain using our ultrasound technology.

This role requires an experienced technical specialist adept in overseeing complex chemical processes and synthesis necessary for producing ultrasound-sensitive drug carriers. Key duties include loading these carriers with various drugs, maintaining quality control, and facilitating the delivery of biologics to the brain. Additionally, you will be responsible for summarizing and presenting the status of drug carrier fabrication through written and oral reports, along with performing necessary statistical analyses for quality control.

Independence and autonomy are key, as you'll need to monitor established processes and innovate to translate them into new modalities.

Required Skills

  • PhD in biology.
  • Approval to perform in-vivo experiments in the Canton of Zurich.
  • Extensive knowledge in drug carrier chemistry and synthesis.
  • Significant practical experience in molecular and RNA biology.
  • Understanding of focused ultrasound physics.
  • Experience in quality control and good laboratory/manufacturing practices (GLP/GMP).
  • Experience with in-vivo tests and various animal behavior assays.
  • Demonstrated academic excellence, including high-impact publications.
  • Proven experience writing scientific publications, reports, and successful grant proposals.
  • Fluent in English.

Desirable Skills

  • Familiarity with statistical software such as Prism/GraphPad.
  • Willingness to train junior staff in drug carrier synthesis.
  • Experience with different animal models of neuropsychiatric and neurological disorders.

What We Value

  • A research mindset and intellectual curiosity.
  • The ability to work independently.
  • Clear communication of ideas and results.
