Job Opportunity: Technical Accounting Specialist (SAP FS-RI)

For our client, a leading reinsurer based in Zurich, we are seeking a dedicated and skilled Technical Accounting Specialist (SAP FS-RI) to join their team. This position is a full-time role (100%, m/f/d) and is integral to supporting technical settlement activities, ensuring compliant reporting, and maintaining high-quality claims and accounting processes.

What to Expect

As a Technical Accounting Specialist, you will:

  • Contribute to key work packages for quarterly and annual financial statements for the firm and the Group in accordance with Swiss GAAP/OR and IFRS, including coordination of complex balance sheet items.
  • Handle specialized accounting topics independently while contributing to (partial) project management within the SAP FS-RI and accounting landscape.
  • Conduct the technical review and finalize incoming and outgoing (retrocession) technical accounts, taking complex reinsurance contract structures into account.
  • Facilitate the accurate and timely processing of payables and receivables, including resolving and escalating discrepancies with internal and external partners.
  • Support the monitoring and coordination of international payment flows in close partnership with Treasury and external stakeholders.
  • Perform quality-assured reviews, plausibility checks, and accounting of claims reports, analyzing deviations, trends, and reporting patterns.
  • Serve as a technical point of contact for international business partners and internal stakeholders (underwriting, risk management, actuarial, business process management, etc.) in both German and English.
  • Drive the enhancement and further development of internal processes, reporting structures, system functionalities, and automation initiatives.

We Expect

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A completed business or economics degree, preferably with a focus on accounting/insurance.
  • Several years of professional experience in technical accounting within the reinsurance sector.
  • Strong understanding of accounting processes, balance sheet relationships, and technical accounting logic.
  • Extensive SAP experience, with FS-RI knowledge required as a user and for system support/administration.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) and a strong affinity for IT.
  • Exceptional written and spoken communication skills in both English and German.
  • A high level of initiative, responsibility, and a passion for cross-functional collaboration.
  • The ability to present complex issues tailored to the target audience and provide technical support to junior team members.
  • Strong analytical thinking skills, a structured approach to work, and excellent problem-solving abilities.
