The State Archives of the Canton of Zurich serves as the central archive for the Canton and its historical legal predecessors, preserving an impressive array of archival holdings that span 1150 years. Our collection includes original documents from the cantonal council, government, central and district administration, as well as the cantonal courts, notaries, and independent public law institutions, all of which are accessible to the public.

The Access Department is seeking a Team Leader (90%) for Team 2, with a starting date of January 1, 2027.

Your Responsibilities

• Professional and personnel management of a team currently composed of nine staff members
• Planning and overseeing access projects
• Accessing challenging analog and digital holdings
• Ensuring quality assurance of processed holdings
• Participating in the optimization of access processes and further development of access standards in line with modern archival science and business principles

Requirements

• Completed degree in history and training in archival and information science, along with several years of professional experience
• Experience in managing staff with diverse educational backgrounds
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a quick comprehension and solution-oriented mindset
• Open-minded, proactive, and capable of independent and efficient work, while also enjoying teamwork
• Knowledge of public administration and Zurich's regional history is an advantage
