The Maintenance Team Lead for mechanics, electric, and automation during the afternoon and evening is responsible for leading and overseeing maintenance operations at the Lengnau facility. This includes supervising a team of specialists in mechanics & utilities, instrumentation & electrics, and automation, ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of equipment while maintaining compliance with GMP standards.

The Team Lead will also play a crucial role in troubleshooting issues, coordinating with other departments, and ensuring a seamless workflow across teams during the day. Additionally, this role involves supporting manufacturing operations during the afternoon and evening shifts, addressing any breakdowns that may affect manufacturing batches. Please note that this position specifically encompasses activities between 13:00 and 22:00, Monday through Friday.

Position Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Technical Responsibilities

  • Lead Afternoon and Evening Maintenance Team: Supervise a team of 4 direct reports, including a Mechanical & Utilities Specialist, Instrumentation & Electrics Specialist, and Automation Specialist. Assign tasks, inspect work, and provide guidance and support.
  • Support Manufacturing Operations: Provide afternoon and evening support for manufacturing operations, promptly addressing any equipment breakdowns that affect production to ensure minimal disruption.
  • Ensure Equipment Reliability: Oversee the maintenance and repair of all equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability, which includes process equipment, utilities, instrumentation, and automation systems.
  • Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues: Quickly respond to and resolve equipment issues that arise during afternoon and evening operations, implementing effective solutions to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
  • Coordinate with Other Departments: Collaborate closely with other departments to synchronize maintenance activities and ensure alignment with production schedules and priorities.
  • Maintain Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with GMP standards and safety regulations, documenting work performed and maintaining accurate records.
  • Support Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance maintenance efficiency and effectiveness.

Train and Develop Team:

  • Provide training and professional development opportunities for team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and offer constructive feedback.

Manage Team Handover:

  • Ensure a seamless handover between morning and afternoon/evening teams by documenting and communicating ongoing issues, completed tasks, and upcoming priorities.

Quality

  • Adhere to general cGMP rules, Quality policies, procedures, and instructions established by the Quality function and endorsed by site management.
  • Actively contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives and deviation reporting and follow-up.

EHSS

  • Adhere to general safety rules, policies, procedures, and instructions established by the EHSS functions and endorsed by site management.
  • Participate actively in safety initiatives, including near-miss reporting and follow-up.

Position Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience & Competences

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in maintenance management, preferably in a GMP manufacturing facility.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising maintenance teams and managing complex maintenance operations.
  • Proven track record of ensuring equipment reliability while maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • Strong understanding of GMP standards and maintenance practices.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
