Position Overview

The Maintenance Team Lead for Mechanics, Electrical, and Automation during the afternoon and evening shifts is responsible for leading and supervising maintenance operations at our Lengnau facility. This position is vital in ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of equipment while maintaining compliance with GMP standards. The Team Lead will be instrumental in troubleshooting issues, coordinating with other departments, and ensuring seamless collaboration among teams.

This role specifically focuses on afternoon and evening activities from 13:00 to 22:00, Monday through Friday.

Position Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Lead Afternoon and Evening Maintenance Team: Supervise and guide a team of four direct reports, which includes a Mechanical & Utilities Specialist, an Instrumentation & Electrics Specialist, and an Automation Specialist.
  • Support Manufacturing Operations: Provide afternoon and evening support to manufacturing operations, swiftly addressing any equipment breakdowns that interfere with production.
  • Ensure Equipment Reliability: Oversee the maintenance and repair of equipment to guarantee optimal performance and reliability, including process equipment, utilities, instrumentation, and automation systems.
  • Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues: Respond promptly to equipment issues during afternoon and evening shifts, implementing effective solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Coordinate with Departments: Collaborate with other departments to align maintenance activities with production schedules and priorities.
  • Maintain Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with GMP standards and safety regulations; document and maintain accurate records of work performed.
  • Support Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements to enhance maintenance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Train and Develop Team: Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for team members, conducting regular performance reviews and feedback sessions.
  • Manage Team Handover: Ensure effective communication and documentation to facilitate smooth transitions between morning and afternoon/evening teams.

Quality Assurance

  • Adhere to cGMP rules, quality policies, procedures, and instructions as established by the Quality function and approved by site management.
  • Actively contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives and deviation reporting.

Health, Safety, and Environmental Standards (EHSS)

  • Adhere to EHSS rules, policies, procedures, and instructions as defined by the EHSS functions and endorsed by site management.
  • Engage in safety initiatives and report on near misses and follow-up activities.

Position Qualifications & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience & Competencies

  • 3-5 years of experience in maintenance management, preferably in a GMP manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in supervising maintenance teams and managing complex maintenance operations.
  • Proven track record of ensuring equipment reliability while adhering to regulatory standards.
  • Strong understanding of GMP standards and maintenance practices.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
