Position Overview

The Maintenance Team Lead for mechanics, electric, and automation will oversee maintenance operations during the afternoon and evening at the Lengnau facility. This role involves supervising a team of specialists in mechanics & utilities, instrumentation & electrics, and automation to ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of equipment while maintaining compliance with GMP standards.

Additionally, the Team Lead will troubleshoot issues, coordinate with other departments, and ensure a smooth workflow across teams during the day. The role will also provide afternoon and evening support for manufacturing operations, addressing any breakdowns affecting manufacturing batches.

This position specifically requires availability for afternoon and evening shifts from 13:00 to 22:00, Monday through Friday.

Position Responsibilities

  • Lead the Afternoon and Evening Maintenance Team: Supervise a team of 4 direct reports, including specialists in mechanics & utilities, instrumentation & electrics, and automation.
  • Task Management: Assign tasks, inspect work, and provide guidance and support.
  • Support Manufacturing Operations: Address equipment breakdowns affecting manufacturing batches to ensure minimal disruption.
  • Ensure Equipment Reliability: Oversee maintenance and repair of all equipment for optimal performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues: Quickly respond to equipment issues that arise, implementing effective solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Coordinate with Other Departments: Collaborate with various departments to align maintenance activities with production schedules.
  • Maintain Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with GMP standards and safety regulations, documenting work performed accurately.
  • Support Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance maintenance efficiency.
  • Train and Develop Team: Provide training and development opportunities for team members, conducting regular performance reviews.
  • Manage Team Handover: Ensure a smooth transition of tasks and responsibilities between morning and afternoon teams.

Quality and Safety Responsibilities

  • Adhere to cGMP rules and quality policies as defined by the management.
  • Contribute to continuous quality improvement and deviation reporting.
  • Follow safety rules, policies, and procedures as outlined by the EHSS functions.
  • Participate in safety initiatives and near-miss reporting.

Position Qualifications and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience and Competencies

  • 3-5 years of experience in maintenance management, preferably in a GMP manufacturing facility.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise maintenance teams and manage complex operations.
  • Proven track record in ensuring equipment reliability and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong understanding of GMP standards and maintenance practices.
  • Excellent leadership, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
