Position Overview

The Maintenance Team Lead for mechanics, electric, and automation will oversee maintenance operations during the afternoon and evening shifts at our Lengnau facility. This role requires effective leadership of a specialized team, ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of equipment while complying with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards.

This position is specifically for afternoon and evening activities, scheduled from 13:00 to 22:00, Monday through Friday.

Position Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Lead Afternoon and Evening Maintenance Team: Supervise and guide a team of four direct reports, including specialists in mechanics & utilities, instrumentation & electrics, and automation.
  • Support Manufacturing Operations: Address equipment breakdowns affecting manufacturing batches to minimize disruptions.
  • Ensure Equipment Reliability: Oversee maintenance and repair of all equipment for optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues: Respond quickly to equipment issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Coordinate with Other Departments: Collaborate with various teams to align maintenance activities with production schedules.
  • Maintain Compliance: Adhere to GMP standards and safety regulations while documenting all maintenance work.
  • Support Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process enhancements in maintenance efficiency.
  • Train and Develop Team: Provide training and support for team members, conducting regular performance reviews.
  • Manage Team Handover: Ensure smooth transitions between shifts by documenting and communicating ongoing issues and priorities.

Quality and Compliance

  • Adhere to cGMP rules and Quality policies as outlined by the Quality function and endorsed by site management.
  • Actively contribute to quality improvement initiatives, including deviation reporting.
  • Follow safety rules and procedures established by the EHSS functions.
  • Engage in safety initiatives and report near misses.

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3-5 years of experience in maintenance management, preferably in a GMP manufacturing facility.
  • Experience supervising maintenance teams and managing complex operations.
  • Proven track record of ensuring equipment reliability and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Strong leadership, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
