Position: Maintenance Team Lead (Mechanics, Electric, and Automation - Afternoon and Evening)

The Maintenance Team Lead is responsible for leading and overseeing maintenance operations during the afternoon and evening shifts at our Lengnau facility. This role involves supervising a team of specialists in mechanics, utilities, instrumentation, electrics, and automation, ensuring efficient operation and maintenance of equipment while maintaining compliance with GMP standards.

**This position is specifically focused on afternoon and evening activities from 13:00 to 22:00, Monday to Friday.**

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Maintenance Team: Supervise and guide a team of 4 direct reports, including Mechanical & Utilities Specialists, Instrumentation & Electrics Specialist, and Automation Specialist.
  • Support Manufacturing Operations: Provide necessary support for manufacturing operations, addressing any equipment breakdowns that affect production to ensure minimal disruption.
  • Ensure Equipment Reliability: Oversee maintenance and repair of all equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability, including process equipment, utilities, instrumentation, and automation systems.
  • Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues: Respond quickly to equipment issues and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
  • Coordinate with Other Departments: Collaborate closely with other departments to align maintenance activities with production schedules and priorities.
  • Maintain Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities adhere to GMP standards and safety regulations, keeping accurate records of work performed.
  • Support Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance maintenance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Train and Develop Team: Provide team members with training and development opportunities, conducting regular performance reviews and providing constructive feedback.
  • Manage Team Handover: Ensure a smooth transition between morning and evening teams by documenting and communicating ongoing issues, completed tasks, and upcoming priorities.

Quality and Safety

  • Adhere to general cGMP rules, quality policies, procedures, and instructions as outlined by the Quality function and endorsed by site management.
  • Actively contribute to quality improvement initiatives and follow up on deviation reporting.
  • Follow all safety rules, policies, procedures, and instructions as outlined by the EHSS functions and endorsed by site management, contributing to safety initiatives and near-miss reporting.

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in maintenance management, preferably in a GMP manufacturing facility.
  • Demonstrated experience in supervising maintenance teams and managing complex operations.
  • Proven track record of ensuring equipment reliability and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Additional Requirements

  • Experience in managing maintenance operations within high-tech, automated manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate ownership of responsibilities.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks involving prolonged standing, walking, and lifting of materials and equipment.
  • Capability to work in cleanroom environments while adhering to all GMP and safety regulations.
