Teaching Assistant for a Bridging Course Project in Refugee Camps

We are seeking motivated students in Chemistry or Interdisciplinary Sciences at ETH Zurich (Bachelor or Master level) for a bridging course project in refugee camps.

Project Background

Professor Roland Riek has initiated a project to offer bridging courses to individuals in refugee camps and other settings with limited access to secondary and higher education. The goal is to provide every individual the opportunity to reach their potential, regardless of their background or circumstances. This project is supported by ETH Zurich and aims to create a learning environment in refugee camps to address the educational and infrastructural gaps that hinder access to higher education.

Job Description

As a member of a dedicated team of teaching assistants and researchers, you will:

  • Design, create, and optimize the bridging course for Chemistry at the Matura level.
  • Instruct and support local on-site teachers.
  • Assist Professor Riek's team with various tasks related to the bridging course project.

Your workload will be a maximum of 15 hours per week during the semester and up to 41 hours per week during the semester break.

Profile

  • You are an enrolled Bachelor or Master student in Chemistry or Interdisciplinary Sciences at ETH Zurich.
  • You have a keen interest in teaching chemistry at the Matura level.
  • You are passionate about making a positive impact in addressing global social and educational inequalities.
