Job Opportunity: Teaching and Research Assistants (40%)

The IEA, Department of Architecture at ETH Zurich is seeking dedicated teaching and research assistants to support our team in both research and teaching activities, starting in March 2025 or at a mutually agreed date. This position is a fixed-term contract for one year, with the possibility of renewal, requiring primary commitment on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

About the Chair of Architecture and Construction

Led by Prof. Adrien Comte and Adrien Meuwly, the Chair of Architecture and Construction adopts a critical approach to architecture and construction, focusing on the existing, available substances at the core of every project. Our goal is to address contemporary construction and territorial challenges by developing tailored tools and using a transdisciplinary methodology that emphasizes hands-on constructions.

Responsibilities

We are looking for candidates with various profiles, each with specific responsibilities. Depending on your skills and interests, your tasks may include:

  • Second-year Bachelor Design Studio Teaching: Prepare exercises, materials, and documents; support students in developing their projects; organize workshops, seminars, and lectures; evaluate and grade student projects.
  • Diploma Support: Prepare topics, materials, and documents; assist students in completing their master's theses and evaluate their projects.
  • Seminar Week Organization: Plan workshops and/or visits in Switzerland and/or abroad once per semester, focusing on themes related to our main research areas.
  • Research Development: Engage in research activities and contribute to outputs such as publications and exhibitions.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in architecture.
  • Fluency in English and German; knowledge of French and/or Italian is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of construction, structure, detailing, and technical drawing.
  • Hands-on skills with an interest and experience in constructive craftsmanship.
  • 2-3 years of professional experience in a related field.
