Job Opportunity: Teacher of Visual Arts

We are seeking an enthusiastic Teacher of Visual Arts to join our beautiful all-through 4-18 international boarding school nestled in the stunning Swiss Alps. This is a unique opportunity to inspire and educate students while being part of a vibrant community.

Main Duties

  • Teach across a diverse age and ability range, adapting lessons to meet individual needs.
  • Contribute to the wider school life through participation in sporting events, extra-curricular activities, and other enrichment programs.
  • Be an active member of our Creative Arts & Design Department.
  • Engage with boarding life and foster a supportive environment for students.
  • Focus on your professional growth and development.
  • Mentor a small group of learners, monitoring their achievements and well-being.
  • Manage resources within the department, ensuring a safe, clean, and organized working environment at all times.
  • Demonstrate a clear commitment to safeguarding all young people.
  • Complete subject-related administrative tasks as required, and participate in departmental meetings.
  • Adhere to the school’s assessment and reporting processes and attend parents’ meetings when necessary.

Person Specification

  • Possess a good honours degree and/or a further degree in a directly related subject.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the principles of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Show a passion for your subject and the ability to inspire others.
  • Embrace innovations in teaching and learning, and be open to experimenting with new practices.
  • Be prepared to supervise learners completing the MYP Personal Project or the DP Extended Essay.
  • Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills in English as a native language.
  • Share the educational vision of La Garenne International School, including our holistic approach to education, and be eager to contribute to the co-curricular and pastoral life of the school.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships and collaborating with colleagues and school leadership.
  • Demonstrate strong ICT competence and a willingness to embrace new technologies.
