Job Opportunity: Teacher of Visual Arts

We are seeking an enthusiastic Teacher of Visual Arts to join our prestigious all-through 4-18 international boarding school nestled in the stunning Swiss Alps. This is a unique opportunity to engage with students and foster their creativity in a vibrant educational environment.

Main Duties

  • Teach across a diverse age and ability range, tailoring lessons to meet the individual needs of each student.
  • Contribute to the wider school community by participating in sporting events, extracurricular activities, and various enrichment programs.
  • Collaborate with the Creative Arts & Design Department.
  • Engage in the dynamic boarding life of the school.
  • Pursue opportunities for professional growth and development.
  • Mentor a small group of learners, monitoring their achievements and well-being.
  • Oversee the management of departmental resources, ensuring a safe, clean, and organized working environment.
  • Demonstrate a clear commitment to safeguarding all young people.
  • Complete necessary subject-related administration and participate in departmental meetings.
  • Follow the school’s assessment and reporting processes, and attend parents’ meetings as required.

Person Specification

  • A good honours degree and/or a further degree in a directly-related subject.
  • A strong commitment to the principles of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • A genuine passion for the subject that inspires and engages others.
  • A willingness to embrace developments and innovations in teaching and learning, experimenting with new practices.
  • Capability to supervise learners engaged in the MYP Personal Project or the DP Extended Essay.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with English being the mother tongue.
  • A shared educational vision with La Garenne International School, including our holistic approach to education and a desire to contribute to co-curricular and pastoral life.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and collaborate effectively with colleagues and school leadership.
  • Proficiency in ICT, with a willingness to embrace new technologies.
