Job Opportunity: Teacher of Visual Arts

We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Teacher of Visual Arts to join our vibrant community at our stunning all-through 4-18 international boarding school located in the picturesque Swiss Alps. This position offers an exciting opportunity to engage with students and inspire their creativity.

Main Duties

  • Teach across a diverse age and ability range, customizing lessons to meet the individual needs of each student.
  • Contribute to the broader school community by participating in sporting events, extracurricular activities, and various enrichment programs.
  • Collaborate within our Creative Arts & Design Department.
  • Engage actively in the boarding life of the school.
  • Continuously develop personal professional practice and pursue opportunities for growth.
  • Mentor a small group of learners, monitoring their achievements and well-being.
  • Manage departmental resources effectively, ensuring a safe, clean, and organized working environment at all times.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to the safeguarding of all young people.
  • Handle subject-related administration as required and participate in departmental meetings.
  • Adhere to the school’s assessment and reporting processes and attend parents’ meetings as needed.

Person Specification

  • A good honours degree and/or a further degree in a related subject.
  • A commitment to the principles of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • A passion for your subject, with the ability to inspire and engage students.
  • A willingness to embrace developments and innovations in teaching and learning, and to experiment with new practices.
  • Ability to supervise students completing the MYP Personal Project or the DP Extended Essay.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with English as your first language.
  • A shared educational vision with La Garenne International School, contributing to holistic education and co-curricular activities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships and collaborating effectively with colleagues and school leadership.
  • Strong ICT competence and openness to new technologies.
  • A positive outlook, a proactive approach to change and development, and a good sense of humor.
