Job Description

We are seeking a passionate Teacher of Psychology to join our vibrant community at an all-through 4-18 international boarding school nestled in the majestic Swiss Alps.

Main Duties

  • Teach across a diverse age and ability range, tailoring lessons to meet the individual needs of each student.
  • Contribute to the broader school community by engaging in sporting events, extracurricular activities, and other enrichment programs.
  • Collaborate within our Boarding Department.
  • Commit to your professional growth and development.
  • Mentor a small group of learners, monitoring their achievements and overall well-being.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safeguarding all young people.
  • Handle subject-related administration and participate in departmental meetings as required.
  • Adhere to the school’s assessment and reporting processes, and attend parents’ meetings when necessary.

Person Specification

  • A good honours degree and/or a further degree in a directly-related subject.
  • A dedication to the principles of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • A passion for the subject with the ability to inspire students.
  • A willingness to embrace developments and innovations in teaching and learning, experimenting with new practices.
  • Capability to supervise learners completing the MYP Personal Project or the DP Extended Essay.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with English as a mother tongue.
  • Alignment with the educational vision of La Garenne International School, including our holistic approach to education, and a desire to contribute to co-curricular and pastoral aspects of school life.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, fostering relationships and collaboration with colleagues and school leadership.
  • Proficiency in ICT and a readiness to embrace new technologies.
  • A positive outlook, optimistic approach to change and development, along with a good sense of humour.
