Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Teacher of Psychology who is enthusiastic about engaging with students at our beautiful all-through 4-18 international boarding school nestled in the Swiss Alps.

Main Duties

  • Teach across a diverse age and ability range, tailoring lessons to meet individual student needs.
  • Contribute to the broader school community by participating in sporting events, extracurricular activities, and enrichment opportunities.
  • Play an active role in our Boarding Department.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and improvement of personal teaching practices.
  • Be responsible for mentoring a small group of learners, monitoring their achievements and overall well-being.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all young people.
  • Complete subject-related administrative tasks and engage in departmental meetings as necessary.
  • Adhere to the school’s assessment and reporting processes and attend parents’ meetings as required.

Person Specification

  • A good honours degree and/or a further degree in a relevant subject area.
  • A commitment to the principles of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • A passion for the subject that inspires and motivates students.
  • Willingness to embrace developments and innovations in teaching and learning, including experimenting with new practices.
  • Able to supervise learners engaged in the MYP Personal Project or the DP Extended Essay.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with English as a mother tongue.
  • A shared educational vision with La Garenne International School, emphasizing a holistic approach to education and enthusiasm for contributing to co-curricular and pastoral activities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with colleagues and school leadership.
  • Robust ICT skills and a willingness to embrace new technologies.
  • A positive outlook, an optimistic approach towards change and development, and a good sense of humour.
