Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic Teacher of Psychology who is passionate about working with students in our beautiful all-through 4-18 international boarding school located in the stunning Swiss Alps.

Main Duties

  • Teach across all age and ability ranges, tailoring lessons to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Contribute to the broader school community by participating in sporting events, extracurricular activities, and other enrichment programs.
  • Be an active member of our Boarding Department.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to continually enhance teaching practices.
  • Mentor a small group of students, closely monitoring their achievements and well-being.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safeguarding all young people.
  • Complete subject-related administrative tasks as needed and participate in departmental meetings.
  • Follow the school’s assessment and reporting procedures and attend parents’ meetings as required.

Person Specification

  • Possess a good honours degree and/or a further degree in a directly-related subject.
  • Embrace a commitment to the principles of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Exhibit a passion for the subject, inspiring enthusiasm in students.
  • Be open to integrating developments and innovations in teaching and learning, with a willingness to experiment with new practices.
  • Act as a supervisor for learners completing the MYP Personal Project or the DP Extended Essay.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills in English as a native language.
  • Align with the educational vision of La Garenne International School, including our holistic approach to education, and be eager to contribute to co-curricular and pastoral life at the school.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal skills, fostering relationships and collaboration with colleagues and school leadership.
  • Show proficiency in ICT and a readiness to embrace new technologies.
  • Maintain a positive outlook, an optimistic approach to change and development, complemented by a good sense of humour.
