Main Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Teaching across a diverse age and ability range, adapting lessons to meet the individual needs of each student.
  • Contributing to the broader school community by participating in sporting events, extracurricular activities, and other enrichment initiatives.
  • Being an integral part of our Science Department.
  • Engaging in the vibrant boarding life.
  • Actively seeking opportunities for personal and professional growth.
  • Mentoring a small group of learners while monitoring their achievements and well-being.
  • Managing departmental resources responsibly, ensuring a safe, clean, and organized working environment at all times.
  • Demonstrating a clear commitment to the safeguarding of all young people.
  • Completing subject-related administration as required and participating in departmental meetings.
  • Adhering to the school’s assessment and reporting processes and attending parents’ meetings as needed.

Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate who meets the following criteria:

  • Possesses a good honours degree and/or a further degree in a directly-related subject.
  • Shows a commitment to working within the principles of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Is passionate about their subject and has the ability to inspire others.
  • Embraces developments and innovations in teaching and learning, demonstrating a willingness to experiment with new practices.
  • Is open to supervising learners completing the MYP Personal Project or the DP Extended Essay.
  • Exhibits excellent written and verbal communication skills in English as a native language.
  • Shares the educational vision of La Garenne International School, including our holistic educational approach, and is eager to contribute to the co-curricular and pastoral dimensions of school life.
  • Has strong interpersonal skills, capable of fostering relationships and collaborating effectively with colleagues and school leadership.
  • Demonstrates strong ICT competencies and is willing to embrace new technologies.
  • Possesses a positive outlook, an optimistic attitude toward change and development, and a good sense of humour.
