Job Opportunity: Teacher of MYP Science & Mathematics

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher of MYP Science & Mathematics to join our vibrant community at our stunning all-through 4-18 international boarding school nestled in the beautiful Swiss Alps.

Main Duties

  • Teach across the age and ability range, adapting lessons to meet the individual needs of each student.
  • Contribute to the wider school community by participating in sporting events, extracurricular activities, and various enrichment programs.
  • Collaborate with the Science & Mathematics Departments.
  • Engage actively in the boarding life of the school.
  • Pursue your own professional development and practice improvement.
  • Mentor a small group of learners, monitoring their achievements and well-being.
  • Manage resources within the department, ensuring a safe, clean, and organized working environment at all times.
  • Demonstrate a clear commitment to safeguarding young people.
  • Complete subject-related administration and participate in departmental meetings as required.
  • Follow the school’s assessment and reporting processes and attend parents’ meetings as necessary.

Person Specification

  • A good honours degree and/or a further degree in a directly related subject.
  • Commitment to the principles of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • A passion for the subject, inspiring enthusiasm in others.
  • Willingness to embrace developments and innovations in teaching and learning, with an eagerness to experiment with new practices.
  • A willingness to supervise learners completing the MYP Personal Project or the DP Extended Essay.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, native level preferred.
  • Alignment with the educational vision of La Garenne International School, including a holistic approach to education, and a desire to contribute to co-curricular and pastoral life.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with colleagues and school leadership.
  • Proficiency in ICT and a readiness to embrace new technologies.
