Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic Geography Teacher to join our beautiful all-through 4-18 international boarding school situated in the Swiss Alps. This is an exciting opportunity to work with students in a stunning environment, fostering a love for geographic knowledge.

Main Duties

  • Teach across a diverse age and ability range, tailoring lessons to meet the individual needs of each student.
  • Contribute to the broader life of the school through participation in sporting events, extracurricular activities, and various enrichment programs.
  • Become an integral part of our Boarding Department.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and seek to enhance your teaching practice.
  • Mentor a small group of learners, monitoring their achievements and well-being.
  • Demonstrate a clear commitment to safeguarding all young people.
  • Handle subject-related administrative tasks as required and take part in departmental meetings.
  • Adhere to the school’s assessment and reporting processes and attend parent meetings as necessary.

Person Specification

  • Possess a good honours degree and/or a further degree in a directly-related subject.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the principles of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Show a passion for your subject and the ability to inspire others.
  • Embrace innovations in teaching and learning, with a willingness to experiment with new practices.
  • Be prepared to act as a supervisor for learners completing the MYP Personal Project or the DP Extended Essay.
  • Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills, with English as your mother tongue.
  • Share the educational vision of La Garenne International School, including our holistic approach to education, and exhibit enthusiasm for contributing to co-curricular and pastoral activities.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, building relationships and collaborating effectively with colleagues and school leadership.
  • Possess robust ICT competencies and a willingness to embrace new technologies.
  • Maintain a positive outlook, with an optimistic approach to change and development, complemented by a good sense of humour.
