Teacher of English
100% – 2-year contract – August 2025
Responsibilities:
- Deliver effective teaching and learning of English language and literature throughout the secondary school.
- Participate in the design, development, implementation, and review of the lower secondary, IGCSE, and DP English programmes.
- Liaise with curriculum leaders to ensure effective delivery of the curriculum, including resource selection and management in the classroom.
- Promote the health and safety of assigned classes.
- Engage in professional development and contribute to regular staff training and meetings.
- Contribute to a programme of trips, excursions, field trips, and extracurricular activities.
- Enhance the professional standing of the teaching body.
- Foster positive relations between the English department and the wider community through cooperative initiatives, publications, and competitions.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in English language with QTS status or equivalent.
- Proven track record of excellence in teaching, with at least three years of experience, ideally in an international environment.
- Knowledge and proven experience of teaching English at IB Diploma (or A level) and IGCSE level.
- Native English speaker.
- Excellent communication skills and a strong team player.
- Ability to manage a diverse and demanding workload.
- Strong organizational skills and proficiency in technology for administration and teaching.
- Aptitude for inspiring mixed culture and ability classes by creating challenging and engaging learning opportunities for all students.
- Capability to support student needs in learning and pastoral matters.
- Clear criminal extracts and a valid work permit are advantageous.
