Job Description

We are seeking a passionate Teacher of Mathematics to join our vibrant community at an esteemed all-through 4-18 international boarding school nestled in the picturesque Swiss Alps. Our ideal candidate is enthusiastic about engaging with students and contributing to their academic and personal growth.

Main Duties

  • Teach across a diverse age and ability range, tailoring lessons to meet the individual needs of each student.
  • Engage in wider school life through participation in sporting events, extracurricular activities (ECAs), and other enrichment programs.
  • Contribute to our Boarding Department to enhance students' residential experience.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development and refining your teaching practice.
  • Mentor a small group of learners while monitoring their achievements and well-being.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safeguarding all young people.
  • Assist with subject-related administrative tasks and actively participate in departmental meetings.
  • Adhere to the school’s assessment and reporting processes and attend parents’ meetings as required.

Person Specification

  • A good honors degree and/or a further degree in a directly related subject.
  • A commitment to the principles of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • A passion for mathematics with the ability to inspire and engage students.
  • Willingness to explore innovative teaching methods and adapt to new practices.
  • Ability to supervise learners undertaking the MYP Personal Project or the DP Extended Essay.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • A shared educational vision in line with La Garenne International School's holistic approach to education.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that foster collaboration with colleagues and school leadership.
  • Proficient in ICT, with a readiness to embrace new technologies.
  • A positive outlook, an optimistic approach to change and development, and a good sense of humor.
