Job Opportunity: Teacher of Chemistry

We are seeking an exceptional and highly motivated Teacher of Chemistry who embraces innovative pedagogical practices. This position involves teaching the subject at MYP/IGCSE and IB Diploma levels. We desire a specialist who is equally adept in the classroom and in collaboration with colleagues, balancing both teaching and leadership roles in line with the school's requirements.

Main Duties:

  • Teach across diverse age and ability ranges, tailoring lessons to meet individual needs.
  • Contribute to the wider school community through participation in sporting events, extracurricular activities, and other enrichment programs.
  • Pursue your own professional development and growth.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safeguarding all young people.
  • Complete subject-related administration as needed and actively participate in or lead department meetings.
  • Adhere to the school’s assessment and reporting procedures and attend parent meetings as necessary.
  • Maintain exceptional standards of Health & Safety within the Science Department.
  • Ensure proper management and maintenance of Science stocks, following CLEAPSS protocols for the safe storage, use, and disposal of materials.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A dedicated educator committed to continuous improvement and embodying the attributes of the IB Learner Profile.
  • Previous experience leading a Science Department, particularly in settings where students follow the IBDP.
  • A good honors degree and/or an advanced degree in a related subject.
  • A strong commitment to the principles of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • A passion for the subject, with the ability to inspire and engage students.
  • Willingness to embrace developments and innovations in teaching and learning and experiment with new methodologies.
  • Ability to act as a supervisor for learners completing the MYP Personal Project or the DP Extended Essay, as needed.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
