Job Opportunity: Teacher of Chemistry
We are seeking an outstanding and highly motivated Teacher of Chemistry who embraces innovative pedagogical practices and can teach the subject at MYP/IGCSE and IB Diploma levels. This role is designed for a Chemistry specialist who comfortably balances teaching and leadership responsibilities while addressing the needs of our school community.
Main Duties:
- Deliver engaging lessons across a diverse age and ability range, adapting the curriculum to meet individual needs.
- Contribute to the wider school community through participation in sporting events, extracurricular activities, and other enrichment programs.
- Invest in your professional development and seek opportunities for continual improvement.
- Demonstrate a clear commitment to the safeguarding of all young people.
- Complete subject-related administration and participate in or lead department meetings as required.
- Adhere to the school’s assessment and reporting processes and attend parents’ meetings as necessary.
- Ensure exceptional standards of Health & Safety within the Science Department.
- Manage and maintain Science stocks efficiently, following CLEAPSS protocols for the safe storage, use, and disposal of materials.
The Ideal Candidate:
- A dedicated educator focused on continual improvement, embodying the attributes of the IB Learner Profile.
- Previous experience leading a Science Department, preferably in a setting where students follow the IBDP.
- A good honours degree and/or advanced degree in a directly-related subject.
- A commitment to the principles of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- A genuine passion for Chemistry and the ability to inspire and engage students.
- A willingness to embrace new teaching and learning developments and experiment with innovative practices.
- Willingness to supervise learners completing the MYP Personal Project or the DP Extended Essay as needed.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
