Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic Teacher of Chemistry to engage with students at our beautiful all-through 4-18 international boarding school nestled in the Swiss Alps.
Main Duties
- Teach across a diverse age and ability range, adapting lessons to meet the needs of each individual.
- Contribute to the wider school life by participating in sporting events, extracurricular activities (ECAs), and other enrichment programs.
- Collaborate as a member of our Science Department.
- Engage actively in boarding life.
- Commit to personal professional development and practice enhancement.
- Mentor a small group of learners, monitoring their achievements and well-being.
- Manage departmental resources, ensuring a safe, clean, and organized working environment.
- Demonstrate a clear commitment to safeguarding all young people.
- Complete subject-related administrative tasks and participate in departmental meetings as required.
- Adhere to the school’s assessment and reporting processes, attending parents’ meetings as necessary.
Person Specification
- Possess a good honours degree and/or a further degree in a directly-related subject.
- Embrace a commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion principles.
- Show a passion for chemistry and the ability to inspire others.
- Be open to innovations in teaching and willing to experiment with new practices.
- Willingness to supervise learners completing the MYP Personal Project or the DP Extended Essay.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, fluency in English is essential.
- Share the educational vision of La Garenne International School, including our holistic approach to education, and be eager to contribute to co-curricular and pastoral aspects of school life.
- Exhibit strong interpersonal skills for building relationships and collaborating with colleagues and school leadership.
- Possess strong ICT competence and be willing to embrace new technologies.
