We are seeking an enthusiastic Teacher of Chemistry to join our beautiful all-through 4-18 international boarding school located in the stunning Swiss Alps. In this role, you will have the opportunity to inspire and engage students across a diverse age and ability range.
Main Duties
- Teach across the age and ability spectrum, adapting lessons to meet the needs of each individual student.
- Contribute to the broader school community through participation in sporting events, extracurricular activities (ECAs), and other enrichment opportunities.
- Be an integral part of our Science Department.
- Engage in boarding life and activities.
- Pursue your own professional development and growth.
- Mentor a small group of learners, monitoring their achievements and wellbeing.
- Manage departmental resources, ensuring a safe, clean, and organized working environment at all times.
- Demonstrate a clear commitment to the safeguarding of all young people.
- Complete subject-related administrative tasks as needed and participate in departmental meetings.
- Follow the school’s assessment and reporting processes, attending parents' meetings as required.
Person Specification
- A good honours degree and/or a further degree in a directly related subject.
- A strong commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- A passion for the subject, with the ability to inspire and engage others.
- An openness to embracing developments and innovations in teaching, with a willingness to experiment with new practices.
- Willingness to supervise learners completing the MYP Personal Project or the DP Extended Essay.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with English as a native language.
- A shared educational vision with La Garenne International School, including a holistic approach to education, and a desire to contribute to co-curricular and pastoral aspects of school life.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and collaborate effectively with colleagues and school leadership.
- Proficiency in ICT, with a readiness to embrace new technologies.
